Stainless steel is one of the best precious metal to use for fashion jewelry such as cocktail fashion rings and minimalist rings, layered necklaces, statement earrings, and bangles. This is because the metal is very durable and does not rust or corrode. However, if not taken care of well, your stainless steel jewelry might be prone to scratches and stains. To avoid these from happening, you should follow some simple rules on how to take care of your fashion pieces.

Without further ado, here are ways on how to take care of your stainless steel jewelry.

Cleaning

As with all jewelry, cleaning them is a must. Stainless steel jewelry is pretty easy to clean, and you don't necessarily need any special cleansers. Here are the things you need that you can easily find at home:

  • Warm water in a bowl or glass
  • Mild liquid soap
  • Lint-free cloth (You'll need two.)

All you have to do is add a few drops of mild liquid soap in a bowl of warm water and mix. Dip your lint-free cloth in the water and wipe the pieces gently until all the dirt is gone. You can use a soft-bristled toothbrush to clean the nooks and crannies of the piece. Do this gently and scrub within the grain lines and not across it.

To rinse the soap off, dip the cloth in clean water and gently wipe the remaining soap off the piece. Dry your jewelry piece with another clean and dry lint-free cloth then air dry.

In cases where the jewelry's brilliance has not been restored, it's time to use a stainless steel polish. You may do this from time to time to get the luster of stainless steel back. After gently wiping it with the polish, rinse the piece thoroughly as the polishing wax might irritate your skin.

Storing

As mentioned earlier, stainless steel jewelry does not tarnish or corrode. However, without proper care, the pieces might get scratches and stains and lose their brilliance. To avoid disasters like this on your favorite rose gold rings or cocktail rings for that matter, make it a habit of storing them separately. You can place them in small pouches or bags before placing them in your jewelry box. If these aren't available, soft tissue paper or small zip-lock bags will do.
